Track Name: E & A
when I get out of bed I know I'm gonna need a nap today
I know I otter rise with the sun but I don't
I otter wanna die for things
I don't though

there's no use pretending it's ever any other way
I could play E and A all night and it's the same
as it was

E and A otter do
when our forefathers felt a phantom ring
'twas the Liberty Bell singin from the Dreamland shore
I see a cellphone tower from the cemetery
bury me in the aquarium or at the zoo
with all the music I download and don't listen to

all my roommate's music sounds like gunfire from a videogame
the pre-recorded bells play from the towers at dawn
but the architect and tape-loop maker been a long time gone
my dream date came and she made the trains all run on time
I feel fine in a forest or a five and dime

when I get out of bed I know I'm gonna need a nap today
I know
Track Name: My Pool My Rules
when I was a kid man I loved to go out and be bad / my folks were going Kokomo trying to keep me controlled / it would have stung like a son of a gun getting thrown in the hole (I didn't know that though!) / I was goosing Chuck Will's Widow / man my hand had a will of its own / the cops wrote me a ticket the judge said the amount that I owed / she said "be glad it isn't prison" / I got a job and I'm old now / It's all the same to me / to get to hell you gotta D-I-G / make with the poetry / come on mama shake an L-E-G / I was taken to the graveyard by my pop / when the tailgate drops the bullshit stops / take a look around you if it's written on a coozy it's true / I try to stay my ground but still my pool my rules / well I'll try to stick around but what's written on a tombstone is true / and I try to stay my ground but still my pool my rules
Track Name: Can't Relax
I can't relax
where ever I'm at it's the International Railway
down on the sand
I can't sleep through the fog horns
all those sounds you found soothing

I was born of the river I was born of the rain
where I stand tall
it doesn't do me much good now
I lay awake out there and I just want to go home
it's like I'm all out of heart's blood

try your luck in the country
they look at me like the shadow
on the Neighborhood Watch sign
believe it or not
his shifting eyes trickle tears too
he wrings his hands in his trenchcoat

I was born of the river I was born of the rain
where I stand tall
now you're not even beside me
I long for the days of labor when I would ride home
to you below the palm tree beach on the billboard

I can't relax
a freedom eagle flies over a cartoon map of our hometown
I go by the window
this was a beautiful country once
has this whole world gone crazy?
